A: There Will Soon be a Complete SmartKnowledgeU™ Online Campus

November 27th, 2006

Q: Is There More to SmartKnowledgeU™ than Just the Zen of Investing (ZOI) Blog?

Just FYI, recently, many people have asked me whether there is more to SmartKnowledgeU™ than just this Zen of Investing blog. The answer is yes.  We will be launching a full-fledged online education campus with 23 separate learning modules, exercises, and exams that will enable the individual investor to identify the best risk-reward asset classes as well as the best companies to invest in using a revolutionary investing system that I developed.

Also, I do read all comments in due time and appreciate all comments, including suggestions. In fact one reader suggested that I write a blog entry regarding my favorite asset classes for the next several years. I haven’t yet written a blog entry addressing this request because I address this question in great detail on our coming website. So stay tuned. Our official launch date is just a matter of weeks away.

I have been investing for 20 yrs since grad from B.S. in Business at Kansas University. No, not near prestige as your background. I am completely self taught absorbing investment techniques ideas trends, ect. since 1992. I have looked for a manager to help me as my nest egg has expanded and have yet to find one that can promise better returns than I already achieve. I have found from a skeptical outsider all they want is to bring you in but they cannot identify specific areas be it companies, industries, countries, investment vehicles that they are willing to state yes thhese are going to be the outperformers. I don’t need to pay someone thousands to not put any more effort or insight into my portfoliio than I would and I run a full time business and can only commit maybe 2 to 3 hours a day on average during the week on my investments. I am looking forward to your upcoming online education and I hope it proves out to cut through the same old build the numbers of followers and just offer decent return performances just enought not to run them away. By the way I spent 4 to 5 hours reading through your blog this past weekend and the martial arts additions to indeeed ad tremendous insight into our investment choices and word we find ourselves today.

Thanks Shawn for your comments. In fact, the reason I left the hallowed halls of Wall Street investment firms and decided to invent my own strategies of investing is due to exactly the reasons you stated - I felt as though there was way too much pressure on just gathering assets and no emphasis on producing returns for clients. Given that some of my clients were friends, I really felt that I would best serve them by doing this. I remember recently reading a review for a book titled “Confessions of a Former Real Estate Broker” or something to that effect whereby the author revealed many tricks of the trade. I consider my online curriculum course to be somewhat similar, like “Confessions of a Former Investment Insider” but much more than that. And as far as my credentials, I really don’t think that attending an Ivy League school really gives me a leg up on anyone. It’s the ability to break away from traditional thinking and to discern true investment strategies from sales strategies that is far more important. Hope this blog and/ or my online campus provides some utility to you.

    Best,

    J.S.
